Congratulations to Gerald Betts, Senior Quality Engineer at our Coalville facility, who celebrates an incredible 50 years’ service.

Gerald first joined the Coalville team as a Technical Apprentice in 1970. He moved into the quality department in 1971 and upon completion of his apprenticeship in 1975 took on the role of Quality Inspector until assuming the role of Quality Engineer in 1991 and then Senior Quality Engineer in 2001.

In 2008 Gerald took the position of Team Leader Operational Quality Support until 2009/2010 when he contributed as part of a small team to overcome many challenges in the business to successfully transition it from a plant manufacturing centre to the current Centre of Excellence in Crushing Technology focusing on crushing chamber design and production for Terex MP. During this period, he also supported the transition of plant product to Terex Omagh where it still resides to this day. Gerald took on his current role of Senior Quality Engineer after the transition (with full departmental responsibilities up until 2015).

Gerald is a keen sportsman, marathon runner and supporter of Leicester City Football club. This sporting tradition carried on to his children with one Son becoming a professional Basketball player in the UK playing for the national team as well as experience in Europe, his Granddaughter has also followed in her father’s footsteps and recently represented her country (USA) in the under 16’s category (Gerald followed every match he could no matter the hour). When not following sport, Gerald enjoys metal detecting in and around the region he lives.

Gerald’s knowledge, experience and dedication to the business, along with his product knowledge, guidance, and professional integrity is greatly valued by the team in Coalville and is a well-respected Team Member with suppliers and across Terex.

To reach 50 years’ service is something exceptional and rare in the modern workplace so congratulations Gerald on this fantastic achievement and the journey beyond!
