Powerscreen at Intermat 2006 - E5 J040
Powerscreen International, the world class manufacturer of screening, washing and recycling machinery, is exhibiting on parent company Terex Group’s stand (Number E5 J040) at this year’s Intermat exhibition in Paris. At this major international construction exhibition Powerscreen will launch the Warrior 1400 mobile screening plant with new modifications.
The Warrior 1400
The Warrior 1400 is a high capacity, heavy-duty machine which is capable of screening out materials into three individual stockpiles. The Warrior 1400 can be used in a variety of materials separations in the most difficult and demanding of applications, including:- Primary and secondary aggregate production, materials recycling, material separation in compost, top soils and waste management.
New modifications have been introduced to make the Warrior more operator friendly. For example the screen box can hydraulically lift up so it is easy for operators to change meshes, clean meshes and vulcanise belts.

The high-strength, high amplitude, two-bearing screenbox and large hopper exit opening allow easy handling and separation of large items from material fines in recycling tasks, such as soils from tree stumps and logs, fines and rock from overburden and blasted rock.
The Warrior 1400 has a highly aggressive screen action and the Warrior screenbox can be fitted out with either finger screens, woven wire mesh and punch plate on both top and bottom deck. The top deck can also be fitted out with bofor bar for the heavier applications, such as blasted rock. The bottom deck can also be fitted with speed harp, flexi-mat and flexi harp for high production. A ball deck can be fitted to the bottom deck when working in sticky applications, which helps to keep the bottom deck mesh media clean (SCS – Self Cleaning System).
Warrior 1400 in Recycling
The Warrior range is particularly effective in the recycling of construction & demolition waste. Powerscreen Warriors are probably the most effective machines available to this industry and are becoming an increasingly common sight both on the demolition contract itself and at recycling facilities, where the demolition waste is transported for treatment. Skip hirers who are heavily involved in this area of activity are also reclaiming saleable product from collected C & D waste with the additional benefit of landfill and transportation costs being reduced dramatically as a result.
What used to be Burtonwood US Air Base, originally a WWII aerodrome on the outskirts of Warrington in the UK, is being turned into an “urban village”. The 88 hectares site is being subjected to a total renewal programme, with approximately 2000 homes, a village centre for shopping, a school, health centre and recreational facilities planned for construction; there is even provision for a proposed railway station.
The approach to environmental and “eco-friendly” matters has been exemplary, with local materials being employed wherever possible. From the considerable amount of demolition and construction waste available from the original airbase structures, careful and extensive use is being made of on-site recycled materials.
For the recycling, reclamation and stockpiling of construction and demolition debris, Powerscreen equipment owners Lancashire Crushing supplied a range of mobile screens and crushers with skilled operators and supporting materials handlers to carry out the work.
In order to produce re-usable materials of the quality required to be used for haul roads, pipeline bedding, road sub-base and so-on, raw materials were crushed where necessary and screened using the Warrior 1400 to separate and stockpile into required sizes to suit the intended usage of the various materials. All the recycled materials were subjected to quality testing to ensure that the required standards were fully met in all cases.
Powerscreen wants new Dealers
Powerscreen currently has 3 French Dealers delivering excellent customer sales and aftersales services. Powerscreen is restructuring its Dealer network in France to increase this to 5 – 6 Dealers to improve its customer service. Powerscreen is also seeking to appoint specialist Recycling Dealers for France.
Powerscreen International celebrates its 40th Anniversary this year and has also recently been awarded the highly prestigious accolade of “Exporter of the Year” by Invest Ireland – for the second time!
